I've seen a few sentences that have combined a comma with "that." In what case does this become an exception, if at all?
Can you give an example?
The man, that was at my neighbor's house, looked suspicious.
That sentence is incorrect. It should be either:The man that was at my neighbor's house looked suspicious.Or:The man, who was at my neighbor's house, looked suspicious.Does that help?

Or:
The man, who was at my neighbor's house, looked suspicious.
